Congratulations to Chapter 350
Voted the Best Mended Hearts Chapter in 2020

Being Proactive in Saving Lives

In the USA about one thousand people per day suffer Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). Their heart does not beat-it just quivers. The survival rate is very low. To have a chance of survival, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) must be applied immediately until the heart can be restarted using an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).
Using monies raised during each year, Chapter 350 of Mended Hearts purchases AEDs and donates them to non profit organizations.
WE DONATE AEDS

CPR training is very inexpensive and is available through a local government agency.

Another 1000 people die every day due to heart issues; this is more than all the cancers combined. A lot of these deaths are preventable.
Per the graphic shown : if you are female and over age 50, or male over the age 40 and have stress, are a smoker, have diabetes, have high cholesterol, have high blood pressure or have a family history of heart problems, you should consult your doctor about getting a $49 heart scan. The more of these issues you have, the more necessary it is to talk to the doctor.
WE ENCOURAGE AND DONATE HEART SCANS

Another serious heart problem is due to electrical problems causing irregular heart beats. One of the major electrical problems is Atrial Fibrillation--Afib. You are 5 times as likely to have blood clots and possible strokes if you have Afib. Afib is frequently treatable but you should take blood thinners to prevent clots. A $10 EKG can detect Afib-as well as other heart rhythm problems.
